The much-anticipated Faust, the new club/bar/restaurant space beneath the Pont Alexandre III, opened last weekend and this Friday promises a solid event. Spanish Hip Hop/Soul duo Cookin’ Soul are playing a 90s-jam DJ set along with DJ James of NTM and MYMY. More information on the Facebook event page.

This Saturday Paris’ 13th annual Nuit Blanche event returns under the direction of José-Manuel Gonçalvès, Director at Centquatre. Beginning at 19h and continuing through the night, not-to-miss performances, installations, and shows will take place in various locations around the city. You can see a detailed map and list of events here. And even if you don’t partake in the Nuit Blanche festivities, you can relish in the unique luxury of late-night Paris metro service, with lines 4 and 14 running all night.

From October 8 – 12, the annual Fête des Vendanges Montmartre returns for an impressive 81st year with a poetry theme, specifically celebrating the work of Jacques Prévert. In addition to the usual harvest and associated Bal des Vendanges and Parcours du Goût, this year also brings a slam poetry reading, a writing atelier, and more.
Musée Jeu de Paume
On October 14th the Jeu de Paume opens a Garry Winogrand Retrospective, the first of this artist’s in 15 years. The ever-talented American photographer is best know for his photographs depicting life in post-war United States, often specifically New York City. Though Winogrand is less known than some of his contemporaries – Evans, Frank, et al – the work certainly holds its own.
La Cigale in Pigalle, Sebastian Camelor
The MaMa Festival is taking place from October 15 – 17 around Pigalle/Montmartre, with over 80 acts playing in a slew of venues. From an Afro-Soul night at le Centre Musical FGO-Barbara on the 15th to a Soirée Region Île-de-France at le Backstage by The Mill at O’Sullivans on the 18th, there is truly a show for every listener. And be sure to book tickets soon; many will go quickly!

The famed arts festival FIAC is returning to Paris this year, and even though this fair is always a must-do, this rings especially true this year, as noteworthy indie satellite fair Cutlog has decided to pass on showing in Paris. The fair runs from October 23 – 26 at the Grand Palais, and you can get more information on exhibitors and tickets here.

With summer having come to a close (even though recent Paris weather has tried to trick us into believing this is not the case), one would think the music festival set would have wrapped as well. But lo and behold, we still have Pitchfork Music Festival to look forward to. The last night is sold out, but tickets are still available for October 30th and 31st, and these nights boast impressive names like James Blake, St. Vincent, Chvrches, Future Island, Son Lux…and the list goes on. Definitely snatch up tickets quickly, before they are gone.

Trésors and Blind Digital Citizen are playing Centquatre on October 24th, and I would definitely recommend taking a listen to their music, and swiftly booking your spot at the show. Their vibe is truly interesting, technically electronic, but the strong vintage notes make for a unique sound.

Caffé Stern just opened last month with fluttering buzz, and the café/restaurant has quickly become a destination for true foodies. The space, located in the former Stern engravings shop in the Passage des Panoramas, is truly splendid. Go for the sight of the space and décor alone, stay for the bites and beverages promised by renowned Italian chef Massimiliano Alajmo and restaurateur David Lanher (Racines, Vivant).
